Les Chaseurs de Rêves
The Dream Hunters are a nomadic tribe of interwoven cultures that leaves a trail of poetic exuberance and wonder wherever it roams. Interacting with the public, creating a surrealist atmosphere, these highly colourful characters evoke a whole range of positive emotions.
The tall and gracious birds are actually marionettes of fine wood manipulated by skillful stilt walkers. Under the watchful eye of their shepherd, they take life and interact with the public - a little nod of the head, the fanning of a crest of feathers, a curious beak that draws near and in an instant, the spectators are awestruck ...
The public will have an extraordinary experience in contact with these birds whose colours and finery make them seem like supernatural creatures. The characters are so impressive that they draw the spectators into a fantastic journey that weaves between the intimate and the sublime leaving stardust memories forever in their hearts.
Jocelyne Meugnier
Jocelyne Meugnier is a self-taught artist. From a very early age, she demonstrated a strong inclination for manual activities and the art of disguise.
Her meeting with Julien Gabriel, of the French company Les nuits blanches was critical in awaking the imagination of the playful child that still lives within her.
Unleashing her creative energies, she quickly designed and produced the costumes for Dream Hunters, the first company that she and Julien Gabriel created together in 1997, in the United States, to follow the show, The Birds, sold for many years to Disney (Epcot and Animal Kingdom).
The events of September 11, 2001 in New York ended the Dream Hunters adventure in the United States. At this point, the Cirque du soleil stepped in to call on Julien Gabriel for his abilities as creator and author of original performances. In 2004, after 3 years of fruitful collaboration, the Cirque du soleil hired the couple and brought them to Québec, with their complete ensemble of marionettes and costumes.
From then on, Jocelyne Meugnier focused on the creation and design of performances of the Dream Hunters.
In 2008, she was cocreator of the costumes in the Cirque du soleil parade for the international exhibition Expo Agua in Zaragoza (Spain): El despertar de la Serpiente.
in 2009, she produced the scenes La tribu des sables and La forêt des masques for the performance Les Chemins invisibles, again for the Cirque du soleil.
Jocelyne Meugnier is a stilt walker and now directs Dream Hunters by herself and continues to create the costumes.
