Trío de Alientos Céfiro

The Wind Trio Céfiro is integrated by flutist Georgina Oñate Aguirre, the clarinetist Imuris Ulloa and the Basoonist Monserrat Velázquez, young musicians mostly formed at the Music Department of the Universidad de Guadalajara, who share the wish of raising trio music to the higher possible level for Mexican audiences, not only in Guadalajara, but all over the state of Jalisco and the country. They started their concerts in March 2008 at the Fiesta de la Música, sponsored by Guadalajara City Hall. They participated successfully in the Festival Cultural de Mayo 2008, offering two concerts at the Ameca and Mazamitla municipalities. During July 2008, they appeared in the series of concerts offered at the Del Carmen ex-Convent, Martes Musicales. In September 2008 they appeared at the José Guadalupe Zuno Museum. They have also taken part in the First Chamber Music Festival in Jalisco, September 2009, together with other important groups of musicians.

Georgina Oñate Aguirre
Flutist

She was born in Guadalajara, State of Jalisco and started her music studies at the Universidad de Guadalajara, in the Music Department of the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño. She obtained a Mid Professional Music Degree.

In 2005 she took part in the XIII Transverse Flute University Encounter, at the UNAM Escuela Nacional de Música.

She is now studying her fourth semester to become a Bachelor in Music, under the flutists Nury Ulate Solís and Andrezej Bozek. Miss Oñate Aguirre also took part in the First Young Flutists Cycle in Guadalajara organized by Professor Ulate Solís in 2006 at the Alliance Française in Guadalajara.

In addition to having played in different concert halls with the “Trío Flautíssimo” in the state of Jalisco, she joined the Céfiro Wind Trio in December 2008, and has toured successfully with them. At the Music Department of the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, she is part of the teachers’ staff, giving courses on transverse flute to children and youngsters, as well as other theoretical subjects.

Frequently invited to accompany the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Zapopan, in October and November 2009 she also played with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, under its head conductor, Héctor Guzmán.

She will be soloist in March 2010 with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, in a series of programs celebrating the LVIII Music Teaching Anniversary of the Music Department at the Universidad de Guadalajara.

Imuris Alejandra Ulloa Morales
Clarinetist

Born at Guadalajara, she started studying music at the Universidad de Guadalajara getting the Licentiate in Clarinet studying with Dr. Charles Nath. In September 1999 she finished her Diploma in Musical Interpretation and Analysis at the Colima University. She has taken master classes with the international clarinetists Phillipe Cuper y David Cambell, and has taken lessons from Luis Baez, adjunct clarinetist to the San Francisco Symphony in the USA.

In 2002 and 2003 she was soloist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco for the Music Teaching Anniversary of the Music Department at the Universidad de Guadalajara, UDG. She has twice also been soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guadalajara, and one at the “Alí Chumacero” popular theater in Tepic Nayarit, in June 2000.

As member of an orchestra, she has participated with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco under the famous conductors Guido Maria Guida, Toshiyuki Shimada, Guillermo Salvador, Enrique Carreón, Eduardo García Barrios, Enrique Barrios, Francisco Orozco and Héctor Guzmán. She was part of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Zapopan from 2004 to 2008, where she played conducted by José Luís Castillo.

Vastly experienced in Chamber Music, she has also been soloist at the Museo de las Artes de Culiacán, Sinaloa, and at the Auditorio Enrique Díaz de León, part of the Music Department of Guadalajara University. As integrant of the “Ébano” Clarinet Trio, she has given many concerts in Guadalajara and in several municipalities of the state of Jalisco during the 2004 Festival Cultural de Mayo. She toured in important concert halls with “Ébano” through Mexico City, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Acapulco, Guerrero and the United States, where she was named “A good Ambassador from Mexico” by the audience.

She also plays with The “Céfiro” Wind Trio, already recognized as one of the important chamber music groups in Jalisco, and they have given concerts throughout the State of Jalisco.

The Gil Cervantes Jazz Orchestra counts on her as an important musician, appearing in their debut at the Teatro Degollado in July 2009, and also playing with them in November, same year, at the Diana Theater.

María Monserrat Velázquez
Basoonist

Being a native of Guadalajara, she obtained a Mid Professional Music Degree in Saxophone, and her Licentiate in Bassoon by the University of Guadalajara, Music Department. She was part of the Wind Instrument Band, “The Big Band”, and of the Music Department Symphony Orchestra, with many very successful concerts.

She started bassoon lessons under Alfredo López, Ken Fisher, Antonio González, David Ball, Igor Kozlovski Vladimirovich and Anani Donev.

Since 2005, she is regularly invited as supernumerary musician to the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, and she has performed under: Toshiyuki Shimada, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, Héctor Guzmán, Guillermo Salvador and Francisco Orozco, among others. She is also an active member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil at Zapopan.
