Silvia Navarrete
Silvia Navarrete is recognized as one of the most outstanding Mexican pianists who studied in Mexico, Vienna and Paris. She has given innumerable concerts not only in Mexico, but in several countries in America, Europe and Asia. She has also been a soloist with the main orchestras in Mexico, the China National Orchestra, the Shanghai Philharmonic, Sinfónica Nacional de Argentina, the Talichy Chamber Orchestra, the “Moscow Virtuosi” conducted by Vladimir Spivakov.
The specialized critics have always remarked favorably on her emotionality, sound quality and profound familiarity with different styles.
For some years, she has been engaged in the research and rescue of Mexican and Latin American music for piano, and the result have been nine CDs with previously unknown works of high musical and historical relevance.
The Unión Mexicana de Cronistas de Teatro y Música granted her both in 1999 and 2006, a recognition to the “Best Record of the Year” for her cutting “Latin American Music for the Piano, Vol. II” and “Aires Mexicanos”. The making this music known has won her important national and international recognition, including her appearance at Casa de América in Madrid, at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, or the Reform, French Intervention and The Second Empire Dialogue in Brussels and at the “Tones Over The City” Festival in Prague, Czeck Republic.
Silvia Navarrete has been honored with several awards and recognitions, and among the most outstanding ones, she received the International Competition of Musical Weeks in Tours, France; she was decorated by the French Government and named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres, and she is also a Member of the Chronicle Council. In the running year, she was granted the “Coatlicue” Prize by Mujeres en el Arte and was appointed “Creador Escénico con Trayectoria” by FONCA for making Mexican music known in the world.
